Jamie recently broke the world record for largest hand-painted poster... ok, so thats not true but its still bloody huge, go check it! Heres a word from the man himself...

Over the weekend I completed a huge hand painted billboard as part of the Becks Music Inspired Art Programme, It covers the front of the Foundry in Old street, a super high profile spot. It took about 20 hours and though a challenge, was alot of fun!, the smooth white surface taking the thick colour like a dream, its up for 2 weeks, Thanks to Matt, and all involved !

During a photo shoot, so much emphasis is placed on the perfect shot and often it is such a small second in time when this takes place. As set-designers, we wanted to explore the beauty surrounding this moment by celebrating the enormous anticipation and frantic but methodical work that goes into setting up a photo shoot and also the aftermath; the moment of calm reflection when the shoot has been wrapped. For this project, the action shot; the noisy, colourful, sparkly, messy explosion of balloons, party-poppers, glitter cannons and paint tubes making up The Photography Annual’s ‘P’ is missing. Pirates x Adidas

Marketing giants Sid Lee got in touch to hook us up with Adidas Originals. We flew out to Copenhagen to spend 4 days giving a couple of shipping containers an Adidas inspired paint job for Copenhagen fashion week. We spent 3 days painting in 3 different locations in the city. The idea we came up with was inspired by Adidas Originals latest slogan 'Then Now Forever' which is a social comment on Adidas' oldskool roots, its contemporary presence now and its part in fashions future. We took this starting point and decided to go with a constantly changing mural where layer upon layer of imagery built up on top of each-other so the containers looked different as time passed. We then stripped the Adidas related imagery back with black paint to leave a super-crisp Logo at the end (all this on corrugated shipping containers!! keeping things neat and legible was a task in its self!!) On the 4th day the containers were tugged down the river for all to see while we recovered in our hotel from the huge Adidas Party the night before, big up sleigh bells!!! It was a great few days and we can't wait to work with Adidas again. Huge thanks to all the guys at Sid Lee and Distortion. Check the flicks below. POP-UP PIRATES OPEN!

Londons Mothership Group, the capitals most forward thinking bar group, have joined forces with the artist management platform Central Illustration Agency and Pirates to create Clerkenwells, and perhaps Londons, very first Pop-Up-Bar-as-Art-Installation project. To be held in a well-known building in the heart of Clerkenwell for three months between May and August, Pop-Up Pirates will be part late-night bar, part art-installation and all totally unique.

Mothership Group has gained an unparalleled reputation for pushing boundaries combining art and music in Londons nooks and crannies and providing opportunities to up-and-coming, aspiring artists with whom they work. Having created The Queen of Hoxton and The Book Club in the last year in this vein, this time, they are taking things a stage further with a pioneering collaboration with two of Londons most happening creative teams.

In this instance, Pirates have taken complete artistic control of the old building and intend to shape the project around Clerkenwells printing history - the site itself was an old factory building specialising in silver lithography.

The idea is all about type, be it modern and bright or traditional and sophisticated. Everywhere you look will be covered in words and letters of all sorts of shapes and sizes, some painted, some in relief and some full on 3D. And thats just for starters, the toilets will be transformed into an interactive blackboard, free standing cut perspex letters will grow out of walls and upbeat catch- phrases will cover every inch of the bar. There will be mock printing presses spewing out reams of paper. Words will shout out from every surface, all making Pop Up Pirates a walk in wardrobe of letterforms.

With Pop Up Pirates and the CIA, Mothership Group is once again displaying the collaborative outlook and verve that has given all its projects the story and atmosphere that have proved so successful. And this time, they may be pushing the boundaries further than ever.

Oh, and plus the site’s got a 4am licence so expect some full on parties programmed by The Mothership Group, Pirates and SessioNoisseS (ATG/DTA) .

Holbrook is about to blow up to behemoth size so go see what all the fuss is about. Pirates will be sure to be doing something in Dam with this fellow very soon!
